Meet Dr. Guernsey

Dr. Carrie Guernsey Ann Arbor Dentist

Carrie Guernsey, DDS

Dr. Carrie Guernsey’s patient-centered approach to dentistry is well received and a welcome addition to the Liberty Dental office. Educating her patients on dental care, establishing long-term oral and systemic health, and ensuring patients achieve dental goals in a comfortable setting are the central focus of her compassionate and ever-evolving approach to dentistry.

Beginning her commitment to dentistry in 2002 at the University of Michigan, Dr. Guernsey completed her undergraduate degree with a Bachelor of Science in dental hygiene in 2006 where she graduated top of her class. Afterwards, she immediately began attending the University of Michigan’s School of Dentistry where she earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree (DDS) in 2010, graduating third in her class.

During her time at U of M, Dr. Guernsey worked in several area offices as a dental hygienist and participated in various community outreach programs sponsored by the university.

Shortly after earning her DDS, Dr. Guernsey moved to Boston, Massachusetts, where she owned and operated her solo practice for over 10 years. She successfully established herself as a premier dentist in the Boston area through her compassionate care for patients while remaining dedicated to learning the latest dental technologies.

Over time, Dr. Guernsey and her husband, also from the Ann Arbor area, decided it was best to return to the Midwest to afford their daughter a chance to better know her extended family. Despite a successful career, an amazing staff, and a great group of friends, leaving Boston was certainly bittersweet; but relocating to Ann Arbor was an easy choice.

Upon returning, it was a natural fit for Dr. Guernsey to join Dr. Stevenson as he had been a clinical instructor and mentor of Dr. Guernsey’s during her studies at U of M.

When not practicing dentistry or attending professional/educational courses to further her commitment to the dental field, Dr. Guernsey enjoys traveling, hiking, and spending time with her family. Her daughter and dog keep her and her husband busy in their free time.

When they have a chance, they have enjoyed re-visiting their old haunts in Ann Arbor and trying the new shops, restaurants, and cafes that have opened while they were in Boston. You may see Dr. Guernsey around town at local festivals, concerts, or attending U of M football and hockey games.
